How to judge a physiotherapy clinic before you book
Chandkheda has grown into one of North Ahmedabad's busiest residential belts, and physiotherapy clinics have multiplied with it. Quality varies more than most patients realise. The difference rarely shows in the signboard; it shows in what happens during your first visit. Use this checklist before you commit your recovery to anyone, including us.
1. Check qualifications, not just experience claims
In India, a physiotherapist should hold at minimum a BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy, a four and a half year degree). An MPT (Master of Physiotherapy) means two further years specialising in a field such as musculoskeletal, sports, neurology or cardiorespiratory care. Ask which specialisation your therapist trained in and whether it matches your problem; a musculoskeletal and sports specialist is the right fit for back pain, joint pain and injuries, while a neuro specialist suits stroke and paralysis rehab. You can read about Dr. Maitri Kothari's BPT and MPT (Musculoskeletal and Sports) background here.
2. Assessment first, machines second
A good first session begins with twenty to thirty minutes of questions and physical testing: movement range, strength, walking pattern, and your daily routine. Be cautious of clinics where every patient, whatever the problem, goes straight onto the same machine circuit. Electrotherapy has its place for pain relief, but machines alone do not fix the strength and movement problems that caused the pain.
3. Ask these five questions on your first call
- What is your assessment process for a new patient?
- Will I get a personalised exercise programme in writing?
- How many sessions do you estimate, and how will we measure progress?
- Do you offer home visits if I cannot travel?
- What does a session cost, and are there packages?
Clear, specific answers signal a clinic that treats systematically. Vague answers usually predict vague treatment.
4. Know the honest price range
Clinic sessions in Ahmedabad typically run Rs 300 to 800 depending on the therapist's qualifications and the treatment involved, with home visits costing more for travel time. Be wary at both extremes: suspiciously cheap often means rushed, machine-only sessions, while high fees should come with clearly explained expertise. Our full cost guide breaks down what affects the price.
5. Watch for these red flags
- Guaranteed cures or fixed promises like "100 percent relief in five sessions"
- No reassessment; the programme never changes no matter how you feel
- Nobody records your history or measures your movement
- Pressure to buy long packages on day one
Where Physio Buddy fits in Chandkheda
We will state our own case plainly and let the numbers speak. Physio Buddy is run by Dr. Maitri Kothari, BPT, MPT (Musculoskeletal and Sports), with over ten years of practice and 2,000+ recoveries. The clinic holds a 4.9 out of 5 rating across 450+ Google reviews, which you can read here or directly on Google. The clinic sits at Shop 117, Shyam Saanvi, behind Satyamev Hospital, open Monday to Saturday, 8:30 AM to 12 PM and 4:30 to 8:30 PM, and home visits cover Chandkheda, Motera and Gandhinagar for patients who cannot travel. First sessions always begin with a full assessment, and every patient leaves with a written programme.
Clinic visit or home visit?
Choose the clinic when you need equipment-based strengthening and are mobile; choose a home visit after surgery, after a stroke, for elderly patients, or whenever travel itself is the barrier. Either way, the assessment standard should not change. Call +91 78619 29326 and we will help you decide which suits your case.
