Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at my first physiotherapy visit?

Your first visit is mostly assessment. Dr. Maitri takes your history, checks how you move, tests the painful area and asks about your routine and goals. You leave with a diagnosis-led plan, and in most cases treatment starts the same day.

What should I wear to a physiotherapy session?

Loose, comfortable clothing that lets us reach the area being treated. For knee or ankle problems, shorts or loose trousers work well. For shoulder or neck problems, a t-shirt is ideal. If you forget, we manage.

How long does a session last?

Most sessions run around 30 to 45 minutes depending on what your plan includes. The first visit usually takes longer because of the detailed assessment.

How many sessions will I need?

It genuinely depends on your condition. A simple muscle strain may settle in a handful of sessions, while post-surgical or neurological rehabilitation runs across weeks. You get an honest estimate at your first assessment, and we revisit it as you progress rather than locking you into a number.

Do I need a doctor's referral before physiotherapy?

No. You can book directly with a physiotherapist in India. If your assessment shows warning signs that need a doctor's opinion first, we will tell you and refer you before starting treatment.

Should I choose the clinic, a home visit or a virtual consultation?

The clinic suits most cases because the full equipment is there. Home visits suit post-surgical, elderly or low-mobility patients. Virtual consultations work well for follow-ups, exercise progression and second opinions. If you are unsure, describe your situation on WhatsApp and we will recommend one.

Which areas do you cover for home visits?

Chandkheda, Motera, Gandhinagar and nearby parts of North Ahmedabad. If you are on the edge of that zone, message us and we will confirm honestly.

What are your clinic timings?

Monday to Saturday, 8:30 AM to 12 PM in the morning and 4:30 to 8:30 PM in the evening, at Shop 117, Shyam Saanvi, behind Satyamev Hospital, Chandkheda.

How much does physiotherapy cost?

Clinic sessions in Ahmedabad typically range from Rs 300 to 800, and home visits cost more because travel time is built in. We share exact quotes on call or WhatsApp once we understand your case. Our pricing guide explains what affects the fee.

Is physiotherapy covered by insurance?

It depends entirely on your policy, and outpatient physiotherapy cover varies widely in India. Ask us about receipts and documentation when you book, and check with your insurer whether your plan covers physiotherapy.

How do I book an appointment?

Call or WhatsApp +91 78619 29326, or email Maitri@physiobuddy.in. WhatsApp is usually fastest: describe your problem in a line or two and we will suggest a slot and the right mode of care.

Is physiotherapy painful?

Treatment itself should not be painful, though some techniques and exercises can cause short-lived soreness, similar to what you feel after a good workout. Tell us during the session if anything feels wrong. The plan adjusts to you, not the other way around.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Any reports you have: X-rays, MRI scans, doctor's prescriptions and a list of medicines you take. If you have none of these, come anyway. The physical assessment tells us most of what we need.

Do you treat both orthopaedic and neurological conditions?

Yes. Musculoskeletal problems such as back pain, knee pain and sports injuries are Dr. Maitri's postgraduate specialisation, and she also holds an advanced certification in neurological physiotherapy for conditions such as stroke rehabilitation and Bell's palsy.

Can physiotherapy really be done online?

For the right cases, yes. A virtual consultation works well for reviewing progress, correcting exercise technique and advising on posture or ergonomics. Hands-on treatment obviously needs an in-person session, and we will tell you honestly which one you need.
